A century by opener T.M. Dilshan, a six wicket haul by Thisara Perera and the 300th catch as a wicketkeeper by Kumar Sangakkara saw Sri Lanka beat Pakistan in the second One Day International (ODI) in Kandy today.
Batting first Sri Lanka made 280 for the loss of 4 wickets and in reply Pakistan managed only 204 runs in front of a barely full house.
Dilshan hit one six and 11 fours in his 139-ball 119 not out for his 13th one-day hundred to boost Sri Lanka’s hopes of levelling the five-match series.
Dilshan added 70 for the third wicket with Dinesh Chandimal (32) and 86 for the next with skipper Mahela Jayawardene (53).
In reply Azhar Ali led the Pakistan fight with 96 runs but Thisara Perera took 6 wickets for 44 runs, the best bowling figures by any bowler against Pakistan in an ODI, to seal the match for Sri Lanka.
Kumar Sangakkara meanwhile took his 300th catch as a wicketkeeper during the match becoming only the third wicketkeeper to take over 300 catches. (Colombo Gazette)
