The Navy seized 92 kilograms of “Kerala Ganja” in Kalpitiya and arrested three suspects, the Navy media unit said.
According to the navy, officers attached to SLNS Vijaya of the North-western Naval Command arrested the suspects while they were attempting to smuggle the “Kerala Ganja” at Uchchimuni in Kalpitiya early this morning.
A Fiber Glass Dinghy fitted with a 25 Horse Power OBM used for the act was also taken into naval custody.
The suspects along with the cannabis and the boat were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for further investigations.
Sri Lanka Navy maintains continuous surveillance along the coastal belt in order to prevent drug smuggling via sea.
