The rain is back

The Department of Meteorology says the active zone associated with the South-West monsoon (Monsoon Trough) which is now located just South of Sri Lanka is affecting the weather over Sri Lanka resulting in the heavy rain being experienced since last night.

Showers or thundershowers with southwesterly winds will occur over Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today, the department said.

Thundershowers will also develop at a few places in the Uva and Central provinces during the afternoon and evening.

The public have been warned to take precautions from lightning.
