The DNA MP later met Fonseka at the Nawaloka hospital where he is receiving treatment.
Alles told the media (Audio below) that there are some outstanding issues which need to be sorted regarding Fonseka’s release and those issues were discussed with the President today.
“Once those minor issues are sorted I’m confident we will be able to secure General Fonseka’s release soon,” Alles said.
Alles had returned to the country yesterday following a private visit to the UK.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa had on Monday said that Fonseka will be released soon.
“We will release him soon,” he told The Hindu newspaper on the sidelines of a function organised to launch a book.
Alles had been liaisoning with the President over the past many months. He had been a close associate from the time the former General ran for office during the last Presidential elections. (Colombo Gazette)
