G.L heads to the US

External Affairs Minister G.L Peiris left for the United States yesterday on a crucial visit where he will be meeting with U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A delegation is accompanying the Minister to the U.S during the visit which follows an invitation extended by Clinton.

The Minister is expected to brief Clinton on the progress in implementing the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation (LLRC) commission.

In March the U.S sponsored a resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council calling for the implementation of the LLRC recommendations.
