Hindu Munnani (Hindu Front) activists caused panic on Chennai’s TTK Road near the Sri Lankan high commission when a protestors set fire to an effigy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa inside an autorickshaw (Three wheeler), the Deccan Chronicle reported.

The activists were protesting against the alleged demolition of a Hindu temple in Trincomalee.

The protesters were going to burn an effigy of President Rajapaksa on the road but when a large posse of policemen turned up, the mob set fire to the effigy inside the vehicle.

The vehicle was running on a CNG cylinder and it’s a miracle it didn’t explode – an incident which could’ve injured several people, Deccan Chronicle said.
