In an interview with the Tamil Sudar Oli newspaper today Pathmanathan, also known as KP, said that when Prabakaran was around there were rare incidents of crime or anti-social incidents reported from areas which were under LTTE control.
However he says now so many incidents are being reported following the death of Prabakaran and the collapse of the social structure created by the slain LTTE leader.
“The Tamil people do not have proper leadership now. That is a sad thing. It will not be easy to fill that gap either,” KP had said.
KP, who is under government custody in the north, said that some among the Tamil Diaspora have given the impression that he was responsible for the defeat of the LTTE.
“They are saying I betrayed Prabakaran and some Tamil people are believing what they say but that is not true. I was in Malaysia in a small room. He was here with so many LTTE cadres and leaders. When Karuna Amman left the LTTE did Prabakaran lose the war? Did I know things Karuna did not know? No. Was Karuna able to defeat Prabakaran after he left the LTTE? No,” Pathmanathan said.
