Drunk passengers in mid-air drama

Two Maldivians have been arrested for harassing passengers onboard a Sri Lankan airlines flight which was returning from Bangkok last night, the police said today.

Both Maldivians had been under the influence of liquor and had harassed the passengers and crew while the plane was in mid-air.

The two passengers were handed over to the Katunayake airport police and are to be produced in court today.

Meanwhile in a separate incident a passenger on a Mihin Lanka flight heading to Colombo from Dubai was arrested yesterday for harassing passengers and the flight crew while being under the influence of liquor.

The passenger, a Sri Lankan national, was warned by the captain after he initially harassed the passengers and crew while the plane was in mid-air.

However when the plane was about to land at the Katunayake airport the drunk passenger had assaulted the crew.

After the plane landed the passenger was handed over to the airport police post. (Colombo Gazette)
