Alston storms the Aussie charts

Sri Lankan born Australian singer Alston Koch has stormed into the Australian Music charts with his new album ‘Don’t Funk With Me’.

Alston entered the Australian Top 20 album charts this week at number 9 ahead of the popular band INXS and just below Keith Urban.

In the Aria Australian Top 50 album chart ‘Don’t Funk With Me’ has come in at number 42 ahead of top music industry names like Neil Diamond and the Foo Fighters.

Speaking to Colombo Gazette from Australia, Alston said he was thrilled and over the moon after his new album made it to the Australian charts this week and he found himself just below Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, the late Whitney Houston and Coldplay.

The first two videos to be released from the album are ‘Soul Sounds’ and ‘Don’t know why’.

Sony Music International had recently signed up Alston Koch to distribute his latest album.

While so many Asians have been signed up with regional Sony Music distributers Alston became the first Asian to be signed up directly under Sony Music International.

Artistes under Sony Music include the late Michael Jackson, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Jimi Hendrix and Paul Simon.
