UNP to call for debate on abductions

The United National Party (UNP) is to call for a debate in Parliament on the increasing abductions in the country.

UNP MP John Amaratunga said that the UNP will call for the debate when Parliament convenes next month.

He also said that the UNP parliamentary group will raise the issue with Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa soon.

The UNP MP said that the government will face more pressure internationally if it fails to address the abduction issue.

He also warned that the Resolution taken up against the government in Geneva will get a boost if abductions continue.
