The District Court in Colombo today issued an injunction order on Kotte Mayor Janaka Ranawake preventing him from making any defamatory statements against the Deputy Mayor of the Kotte Municipal Council Madura Vithana.
Madura Vithana had last month lodged a complaint with the Mirihana police claiming that his private videos were being circulated by some persons.
He said that the videos were copied from his computer when it was taken to the Kotte Municipal Council during the recent provincial council elections.
Vithana had accused the Mayor of Kotte Janaka Ranawake and the secretary to the Mayor of being involved in distributing copies of the videos.
He said that the contents of the videos are “private” and had become a target of the incumbent Mayor.
Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Vithana said he has raised the issue with the party as well. (Colombo Gazette)
