Railway department suspects foul play

The Railway Department says it suspects sabotage led to the footboard of a train giving way in Veyangoda on Saturday which killed a youth.
The General Manager of the Railway Department B.A.T Ariyaratne told reporters this afternoon that a three member committee has been appointed to investigate the incident.
He said that 3 bolts were missing from the footboard at the time of the incident.
A 24 year old youth from Veyangoda died after he fell onto the tracks after the footboard gave way and the train ran over him.
The train was plying from Colombo to Vavuniya when the incident took place.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth?s body was severed in half following the accident but he was still alive for several minutes and died on the way to hospital.
