Food poisoning kills Dubai nationals

Two Dubai nationals, a mother and her child, died at a hospital in Ragama today following suspected food poisoning, the police said.

According to the police the mother, her husband and child had arrived from Dubai and were staying at a hotel in Seeduwa.

They fell sick yesterday and it was believed that it was as a result of some food they consumed in the airline.

All three were admitted to hospital but the mother and child had later died.

The father remains admitted in hospital and is receiving further treatment.

Smoking not cheap anymore

The government today announced that the price of cigarettes has been increased with effect from today. Accordingly the price of a cigarette has been increased by Rs. 2 and Rs. 3 from today.
