Lanka discussed at Indian parliament

Sri Lanka was discussed during the budget speech at the Indian parliament this morning.

During her opening speech Indian President Pratibha Patil said that the Indian government is providing assistance for the resettlement and rehabilitation of the internally-displaced persons of Sri Lanka.

Later members of the DMK, which is led by M. Karunanidhi, shouted slogans demanding that the Indian government support the resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council.

The DMK members disrupted the parliament sittings for a few minutes as a result of their demonstration inside parliament.
