US envoy and Defense Attach? visit China funded Hambantota port

JVP talks with MR on abolishing Executive Presidency successful

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said that talks held with opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa today on abolishing the Executive Presidency, was successful. JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that Rajapaksa had noted that the policy of his party was to abolish the Executive Presidency. However he said there were some concerns raised by Rajapaksa on backing the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. AG to file indictments against Karannagoda, other suspects

The Attorney General (AG) is to file indictments on Former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and the other suspects accused of being involved in the abduction and forced disappearance of 11 youth. The Supreme Court will tomorrow (March 7th) take up a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by Karannagoda against moves to arrest him.
