Bomb Threat Prompts Security Sweep at Kandy District Secretariat

A special search operation was underway yesterday (26) at the Kandy District Secretariat following a bomb threat, police said.

The search was launched after an email sent to the official email address of the Kandy District Secretary claimed that explosive devices had been placed at five locations within the premises.

Teams from the Kandy Police Station, assisted by the Police K9 Division, the STF Bomb Disposal Unit, and the Sri Lanka Army Bomb Disposal Unit, conducted inspections of the building.

Police said no explosives had been found at the time of reporting, and search operations were continuing as a precaution.
