The Police Headquarters has released a safety notice for those planning to visit Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak), following reports of unstable terrain along a key access route.

According to officials, a specialized team from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) recently inspected a landslide site in the Mahagiridamba area on the Hatton route. The team evaluated the ground conditions to determine the current level of instability.

Based on their findings, the NBRO’s Director-General issued guidance on the measures needed to make the route safe for pilgrims.

Until these recommendations are fully implemented, authorities have restricted access to Sri Pada via the Hatton road, which passes through the affected area. The move aims to minimize risks to pilgrims due to the unstable terrain.

The Police have also urged visitors to plan their journeys carefully and remain alert to changing weather conditions and the state of access roads.

The annual Sri Pada pilgrimage season began on the Unduvap Full Moon Poya Day on December 4.
