CID to make key revelations ahead of Easter attacks anniversary

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is to make key revelations ahead of the Easter Sunday attacks anniversary, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

Speaking at an election rally on Sunday, the President said the CID hopes to reveal the names of a number of suspects involved in the attacks before the Easter bombings anniversary on 21 April.

The President also recalled that three former Deputy Ministers have been arrested and remanded.

He said they were arrested based on investigations conducted over corruption and other crimes.

The President also said that the former Inspector General of Police has been arrested and remanded.

Dissanayake said that all the arrests were made following extensive investigations conducted by a capable team.

Speaking further, the President said that during the upcoming visit to Sri Lanka by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a key power project will be launched.

The President said that Modi’s visit is significant as it comes just a few months after the new Sri Lankan Government took office.

He also said that Japan and China have also expressed interest to commence investment projects in Sri Lanka.

The President said this shows there is now economic stability in Sri Lanka and investor confidence in the country. (Colombo Gazette)
