MSD security to remain for some former MPs

Officers of the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) will continue to remain for some former MPs based on a security assessment, the Sri Lankan Government said on Tuesday.

Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that MSD security has not been provided to anyone based on political affiliations.

He said that MSD security has been provided purely based on the security assessment carried out by the authorities.

The Minister was responding to claims that former MPs Tiran Alles and M.A Sumanthiran have been provided MSD security.

He said that if anyone has a serious security threat to their lives then they will be provided security after the matter is reviewed. (Colombo Gazette)

Inter-province travel ban to be lifted on 31st October

The inter-province travel ban is to be lifted at 4am on 31st October. The ban was to be lifted yesterday (October 21st) but was later extended till 4am on 31st October. Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa confirmed today that the ban will be lifted on 31st October. President asserts China funded nephrology hospital not the solution

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says the Chinese funded nephrology hospital constructed in Polonnaruwa is not the solution to the kidney disease issue in Sri Lanka. Speaking to farmers in Bunnahepola, Udubaddawa, the President said that measures need to be taken to protect the future generations. “A major hospital to treat kidney patients has been constructed in Polonnaruwa with Chinese assistance.
