King Charles looks forward to strong UK – Sri Lanka ties

King Charles III says he looks forward to furthering the partnership between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

In a message to mark Sri Lanka’s independence anniversary, the King said that Sri Lanka and the UK share strong cultural, economic and people to people ties.

He said he values the strong ties and special friendship that are shared between the two countries.

King Charles III said that he looks forward to furthering the partnership between the UK and Sri Lanka and working together on an economic recovery, underpinned by green growth and continuing to achieve shared commitments in areas such as biodiversity, agricultural resilience and renewable energy. Sirasa lodges complaint with the police

Over 25 Tamils on hunger strike

Over 25 Tamil asylum seekers are on hunger strike at a detention center in Melbourne, Australia. Media reports said that the Tamils are seeking their release from detention or be given asylum. The Tamils had launched the strike on April 8 and have continued it since then with some of them falling sick. At least five of the?protesters?had been?hospitalized after falling sick during the hunger strike.
