Dayasiri claims MP Archchuna has a mental disorder

MP Dayasiri Jayasekera told Parliament that MP Ramanathan Archchuna has a mental disorder and should be given medical attention.

Jayasekera expressed these views after MP Ramanathan Archchuna told Parliament Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne “shame on you” after the Speaker refused to allow the MP to continue to discuss a privilege issue beyond a written statement he had given.

MP Dayasiri Jayasekera said that there has been an issue over the conduct of MP Ramanathan Archchuna.

Archchuna raised a privilege issue over an incident where the Police had recently stopped his vehicle and questioned him.

The MP said that his Parliament privileges had been violated by the actions of the Police.

However, the Speaker said that the Police have been advised that the law is equal to all, even if they are MPs. (Colombo Gazette)

TNA to hold talks for the first time with President

Luxury vehicles ordered for MPs cancelled

The Government today confirmed that luxury vehicles ordered for Members of Parliament (MP), have been cancelled. Cabinet co-spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella told reporters today that a policy decision had been taken by the Cabinet earlier to cancel the order to import the vehicles.
