Israeli tourists in Arugam Bay under threat

Israeli tourists in Arugam Bay are under threat, according to intelligence information received, and measures have been taken to ensure their security, the Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa said that a number of Israeli tourists are in Arugam Bay.
He said that most of them travel to Arugam Bay for surfing.
The Police Spokesman said that the Police had received information that Israeli tourists in Arugam Bay could be a potential target.
As a result special road blocks have been placed by the Police to check vehicles and ensure the safety and security of Israeli tourists in Arugam Bay.
The United States earlier warned of attacks targeting tourist locations in Arugam Bay, ?Sri Lanka.
The US Embassy in Colombo?said that it received credible information warning of an attack targeting popular tourist locations in the Arugam Bay area.
Due to the serious risk posed by this threat, the Embassy imposed a travel restriction on Embassy personnel for Arugam Bay effective immediately and until further notice.
The Embassy said that US citizens have been strongly urged to avoid the Arugam Bay area until further notice. (Colombo Gazette)
