Guidelines issued for persons accompanying voters with disabilities

A person accompanying a voter with disabilities at the 5 August Parliamentary election, must carry a Certificate of Eligibility, the National Elections Commission said. Rs. 53 billion for 20,240 COVID-19 affected businesses

The Central Bank has approved Rs. 53 billion for 20,240 COVID-19 affected businesses so far, the Central Bank said today. The Central Bank, in consultation with the Government of Sri Lanka, has introduced the Saubagya Covid-19 Renaissance Loan Scheme to provide working capital loans at 4% interest rates to businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, through Licensed Banks, thereby supporting the revival of economic activity in the country. Kusal Mendis arrested over accident in Panadura

Sri Lanka cricketer Kusal Mendis has been arrested over an accident reported in Panadura early this morning (05). Police Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne told the Colombo Gazette that Kusal?s vehicle had collided with a cyclist near the 13th KM post in the Horethuduwa area in Panadura. The deceased has been identified as a 64- year old resident of Gorakapola. The Panadura – North Police arrested Kusal Mendis and produced him before a doctor for examination, SSP Senaratne said.
