Fonseka places deposit to contest presidential polls

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has placed the deposit at the Election Commission to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Dhammika Ratnayake paced the cash deposit on behalf of Fonseka to contest as an independent candidate.

Former Army Commander, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka formally announced lasty month that he will be contesting at the upcoming Presidential election.

Fonseka had invited every Sri?Lankan to support him to take the country forward.

There was speculation earlier that Fonseka will support incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Fonseka had, however, insisted at the time that he will not support Wickremesinghe as the President was working with the Rajapaksas.

The Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will be contesting against his own party leader Sajith Premadasa. (Colombo Gazette)

North-East monsoon conditions gradually establishing

Individuals affected by Kilinochchi fire compensated

Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs D.M Swaminathan provided compensation to 91 individuals who were affected from the fire, which erupted at the Kilinochchi market complex on 16th September 2016.
