SLFP splits into 3 as Dayasiri’s group backs Sajith

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has split into three with the group led by Dayasiri Jayasekera deciding to back Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa at the Presidential election.

Jayasekera, who was recently confirmed as the General Secretary of the SLFP, said he will work with Premadasa.

Another group of SLFP MPs led by former President Maithripala Sirisena are backing former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.

Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is contesting at the September 21 Presidential election as part of an alliance.

Meanwhile, another group of SLFP MPs are backing incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe. (Colombo Gazette)
