Several Sri Lankans who attended JVP event arrested in Kuwait

Several Sri Lankans who attended an event organised by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) have been arrested in Kuwait, Minister Manusha Nanayakkara said.

The Minister of Foreign Employment and Labour said that he had been notified about the arrest of 24 Sri Lankans.

He said that among those arrested were the organisers and musicians of the event.

The Minister shared a posted of the event titled ‘Sri Lankan summer night’ organised by the Ethara Api organization.

Nanayakkara said that he was in touch with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait in an attempt to secure the release of the Sri Lankans. (Colombo Gazette)
