Sri Lankans advised against travelling to Lebanon

Sri Lankans have been advised against travelling to Lebanon over the next few days, Foreign Minister Ali Sabry said.

The Foreign Minister said that Sri Lankans have been advised to avoid non-essential travel to Lebanon.

The announcement comes following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

The Foreign Minister said earlier that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed three special committees on the Middle East as a proactive measure.

One committee focuses on national security, another on the economic situation and ensuring the availability of essential goods, and a third, chaired by the President and Prime Minister, oversees the work of the other two. (Colombo Gazette)
