The?United Nations (UN) asserted that unity is the only way forward for Sri Lanka. UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka?Una McCauley noted that all communities united following the floods in Sri Lanka. “At height of #FloodSL all communities united for those affected. Unity is the only way forward-racial attacks & perpetrators must be stopped,” she tweeted. The comments follow fresh incidents of hate crimes being reported in parts of the country this week. Canada to deport Sri Lankan murder suspect in two weeks

Canada’s Immigration Department says a murder suspect who was set free after his trial exceeded the legal length limit is expected to be sent back to Sri Lanka in the next two weeks, CTV News reported. Ewa Staszewicz, a lawyer for the department, is confirming steps are being taken to obtain the necessary travel documents for Sivaloganathan Thanabalasingam. ADB provides US $ 2 million grant for disaster relief efforts

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided a US $2 million grant to finance relief efforts of the recent floods and landslides victims in the country. An agreement in this regard was signed today at the Ministry of Finance by Dr R.H.S. Samarathunga Secretary Ministry of Finance and Mass media and Tadateru Hayashi, Senior Country Economists / Officer-in-Charge of the Sri Lanka Resident Mission of the ADB.
