Change of leadership at Ceylon Chamber of Commerce

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the main business chamber in Sri Lanka, has announced a change of leadership.?

Manjula de Silva will retire from the position of Secretary General and CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with effect from 31st January 2023 after serving the Chamber in that capacity for 3 years.

Alikie Perera, currently Deputy Secretary General/Financial Controller has been promoted as Deputy Secretary General/Chief Operating Officer.

She will lead the team at the Chamber Secretariat from 1st February 2023. (Colombo Gazette)

Two people arrested over Wadduwa party deaths remanded

Two people who were arrested yesterday over the death of four people after a party in Wadduwa last weekend were today ordered to be remanded till August 17th. Among those arrested was the publicity officer of the organisers of the party. Four people had been admitted to hospital after attending the party at a hotel?in?Wadduwa over the weekend. Two people died and another two were in hospital. A third person later died while the fourth person also later died.?(Colombo Gazette)
