Three killed in van-bus collision in Nittambuwa

Three people were killed following an accident involving a van and a bus in Nittambuwa today. The Police said that a bus crashed into a van along the Colombo-Kandy main road in Nittambuwa. Three people, including two women, were killed in the accident.

Gamini Senarath acquitted in case over misappropriation of funds

Former President?s chief of staff Gamini Senarath and two others were today acquitted and released by the Permanent High Court-at-Bar in the case over the alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to state owned Litro Gas. The Senarath and the others were accused of misappropriating Rs 500 million in funds belonging to Litro Gas. However the Permanent High Court-at-Bar ruled that the allegations had not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sri Lankan to stand trial in Cyprus for attempting to kill estranged wife

A 46 year old Sri Lankan national will stand trial in Cyprus for the attempted murder of his wife, also a Sri Lankan national. The man, who was arrested at Larnaca Airport as he was attempting to leave Cyprus and return to Italy where he lives, appeared before Limassol district court on Wednesday which referred to trial before the Limassol Criminal Court on September 25.
