Colombo gets more bicycle lanes and parking racks

More bicycle lanes and parking racks have been launched in Colombo as more people switch to using bicycles owing to the fuel crisis.

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) today announced the launch of several new bicycle lanes in parts of Colombo.

Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake said that bicycle parking racks have also been established in key public areas.

She said that parking racks have been established near the Colombo General Hospital, the Colombo University and other areas.

Senanayake also said that steps will be taken to have park and ride locations where motorists can drive to a central location and park the vehicle and go the rest of the distance on a bicycle. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lankans stranded in Bangladesh return home

A group of Sri Lankans stranded in Bangladesh returned home today. Officials said that 276 Sri Lankans returned to the island on a special SriLankan Airlines flight. The Sri Lankans included several students who were studying in Bangladesh. The Sri Lankans were checked at the Bandaranaike International Airport for the coronavirus on their arrival. EC member Hoole defends daughter following accusations

National Election Commission member Ratnajeevan H. Hoole has defended his daughter Elilini Hoole after some local media institutions and social media attacked her.
