Prime Minister offers meeting between SJB and Treasury

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today offered to arrange a meeting between the main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and Treasury to discuss matters related to the economy.

The offer was made by the Prime Minister while responding to a question raised by SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva in Parliament today.

Dr. Harsha de Silva questioned reports that Sri Lanka was going into a hard default of its repayments today.

He also asked what the economic recovery plan of the new Prime Minister was.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said that there is some disparity in the Government data.

The Prime Minister said that he will submit an economic recovery plan next week. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka pushing to reach final deal with IMF in December

Sri Lanka is pushing to reach a final agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December. State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe told reporters today that the authorities are working on the proposals put forward by the IMF.
