Child burnt to death in Weligama fire

An 8-year-old girl has been burnt to death in a fire at a house in Weligama, the Police said. The Police believed the fire had ignited in a room where the girl was sleeping. Two others who were in the house at the time had managed to escape. The cause of the fire is not yet known. (Colombo Gazette)

Government assures no lockdown for Christmas

The Government has assured that a lockdown will not be enforced during Christmas. Cabinet co-spokesman Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said that the country was reopened following the success of the vaccination program.
