FM briefs professionals in Batticaloa on constitutional reforms

Foreign Minister and acting Finance Minister, Professor G. L. Peiris, briefed professionals in Batticaloa today on the constitutional reforms process.

The Foreign Ministry said that a friendly meeting was held between the Foreign Minister and professionals in Batticaloa.

Professionals such as doctors and engineers participated at the meeting, the Foreign Ministry said.

During the discussion, the current economic situation and its upliftment were discussed in depth while constitutional reforms, electoral reforms, educational reforms as well as the country’s sociopolitical foreign policy, and foreign relations were also taken into consideration. (Colombo Gazette)

Number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka increases

The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka increased further late this evening. The Ministry of Health said that 13 new patients were detected today with the virus. Isolated areas in Kandy, Beruwala reopened

Areas declared as isolation locations in the Kandy and Kalutara districts have been reopened. Akurana in Kandy and Beruwala in Kalutara were declared as isolation areas due to the detection of COVID-19 patients. Entry and exit to the areas were restricted in line with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said Akurana in Kandy and Beruwala in Kalutara, which were declared as isolation areas, were reopened today. (Colombo Gazette)

More Navy personnel detected with COVID-19

Eleven Navy personnel were identified among the 13 confirmed COVID-19 patients detected in Sri Lanka yesterday. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said the 11 Navy personnel were detected from within the Navy Camp in Welisara. Among the remaining 2 patients, one has been identified as a relative of a Navy personnel, while the other has been identified as a resident of Kerawalapitiya, Wattala who had come into contact with an infected Navy officer.
