No inter-province travel ban in new health guidelines

An inter-province travel ban has not been enforced in a new set of health guidelines issued for the Christmas season.

Public Health Inspectors had called for an inter-province travel ban during Christmas in order to prevent a Covid crisis in the new year.

However, an inter-province travel ban has not been enforced in the new health guidelines which will be in effect from 16th December to 31st December 2021.

Covid restrictions have been further relaxed in the new guidelines including the number of people permitted for weddings.

Accordingly, 50 percent of the hall capacity is permitted for weddings while serving liquor is also now allowed.

Indoor private gatherings is also allowed for 50 percent of the hall capacity and a maximum of 10 people in a private house. However, outdoor private gatherings are not permitted. (Colombo Gazette)
