Thirty-nine arrivals test positive for coronavirus

Thirty-nine arrivals have tested positive for the coronavirus in Sri Lanka, the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said this morning (Monday). NOCPCO said that all 39 had tested positive while in quarantine at a number of quarantine centers in the country. Of the 39 who tested positive for the virus, 16 are arrivals from Qatar who are at the Club Palm Bay hotel in Marawila and at a quarantine center in Anuradhapura,? 12 from the UAE who are at Ozo Hotel

Sri Lanka records its 13th COVID-19 death

Sri Lanka today recorded its 13th COVID-19 related death, the Government information Department said. The deceased has been identified as a 60-year old man who had served as a seaman. He died while receiving treatment at the Chilaw Base Hospital. The victim, who had arrived from Bahrain on 02 September, had not been identified as a coronavirus infected patient at the time. The Archbishop of Canterbury has asked Anglicans in Sri Lanka to pray as he continues to consult widely on the most suitable person to be the new Bishop of Colombo.
