Minor earth tremor reported in parts of Sri Lanka

A minor earth tremor was reported in parts of Sri Lanka today, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said. The tremor was felt in Badulla, Hali-Ela, Welimada, Nuwara Eliya and Passara. The DMC said that the magnitude of the tremor was recorded at 3.33 on the Richter scale. The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 KM. (Colombo Gazette)

US military notes China used predatory debt tactic on Sri Lanka

The United States military has said that China used predatory debt tactics on some countries, including Sri Lanka. General Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Senate Armed Services Committee that Sri Lanka granted China a 99-year lease and 70 per cent stake in its deep-water port. “Let us look at just a few examples. Australia?s largest ever defence engagement with Sri Lanka to unfold

Australia?s largest ever defence engagement with Sri Lanka is set to unfold this month, Acting Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Jon Philp said today.
