TNA to take resettlement issue to court

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is to go to court over the resettlement of war displaced Tamils in the north. TNAP MP Apadurai Vinayagamurthi said that his party will seek the intervention of the court to resettle hundreds of people on their original lands in parts of the north. He also said that the TNA will support a demonstration set to be staged by families who are yet to be resettled on their original lands. Shirani appears before the Bribery Commission

Former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake appeared before the Bribery and Corruption Commission today. Dr. Bandaranayake had appeared before the Commission last month on the instructions of the Commission. She had had informed the commission at the time that she would make a written submission pertaining to the allegations against her by today. Accordingly she was expected to submit her written statement in the presence of her lawyers to the Commission today.

Pepiliyana issue resolved, suspects freed

The management of the Fashion Bug warehouse in Pepiliyana and the?suspects?connected over the attack on the premises last week, decided to amicably resolve the issue today. All 17 suspects including three monks were produced at the Gangodawila Magistrate Court today under tight police protection.
