A?Buddhist monk strangled a policeman to death in Ratnapura when an attempt was made to arrest him. The Police said that the policeman had visited the temple in Galenda in Ratnapura to arrest the monk over an ongoing investigation. The monk had then strangled the policeman and killed him. Indian arrested at BIA with gold worth over Rs 19 million

Customs officers arrested an Indian National at the?Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today when he attempted to smuggle gold into the country. The Indian had in his possession a gold slab and gold jewellery worth over Rs 19 million, the Customs Department said.
