Another six Navy officers contract coronavirus

Another six Navy officers have contracted the coronavirus, taking the total number of patients detected with the virus in Sri Lanka to 869.

Director-General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that all six Navy officers were attached to the Welisara Navy camp.

He said that their samples were tested at the Karapitiya Hospital.

Dr. Jasinghe said that among the confirmed patients 517 have been reported as active cases as of today.Close to 114 persons are admitted to various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.Meanwhile, 343 patients, including a Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe added that 9 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

Australia to shift Lankan boy

Australian Immigration Minister Tony Burke says he is working to get a 11-year-old Sri Lankan boy out of a Tasmanian detention centre as quickly as possible.
