Suspect in Bharatha Lakshman murder shot at in Dematagoda

A suspect in custody over the murder of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was shot at in Dematagoda today while he was being transported to the Welikada prison. The police said that the prison bus ‘Dematagoda Chaminda’?was being transported in was shot at and he sustained injuries. The suspect was admitted to the Colombo National hospital. (Colombo Gazette)

Amaratunga given additional portfolio of Minister of Lands

Minister John Amaratunga was sworn in as the Minister of Lands before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat today. He will hold this portfolio in addition to his ?portfolio as the Minister of Tourism and Christian Affairs. He was appointed to fill the position left vacant after the demise of the former Minister of Lands M.K.A.D.S Gunawardene. Secretary to the President, P.B. Abeykoon also participated at this occasion.
