Eighth coronavirus death reported in Sri Lanka

The eighth coronavirus death has been reported in Sri Lanka, that of a woman.

This is the first woman to die from the virus in Sri Lanka.

The Health Ministry said that a 72 year-old woman had died of the virus today.

The victim is a resident of Kurunegala and was receiving treatment at the Homagama Hospital.

As of this evening there were 721 coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka and there were 519 active patients.

The Ministry of Health said that 194 patients have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital. (Colombo Gazette)

Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka crosses the 500 mark

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka crossed the 500 mark today. The Government Information Department said that five new deaths were confirmed today. Accordingly, the death toll from the virus in Sri Lanka rose to 502 today.

Prison officer interdicted over selfie taken by MP with Ranjan
