Social distancing disregarded in most places

Social distancing is being disregarded in most places, especially in public transport, the Police said today.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the Police have been advised to educate the public on the importance of social distancing.

He said that most people are still asking when this crisis will end and when normal activities can resume.

DIG Ajith Rohana said that when normal life resumes all depends on how the public take the issue seriously and follow health guidelines.

He urged the public, including those operating public transport to strictly adhere to the health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.

DIG Ajith Rohana said that the Police will conduct special operations to ensure health guidelines are strictly followed.?(Colombo Gazette)

The new cabinet is to take oaths in Kandy on Wednesday, the President’s Media Division said. SLPP sweeps polls and secures 145 seats, SJB gets 54

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) swept the Parliamentary Election securing 145 seats, which includes 17 National List seats. The SLPP ended the election with 6,853,698 votes while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) secured 2,771, 988 votes.
