Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage new Army Chief of Staff

Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage was today appointed as the new Army Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. He replaces Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva who was appointed as the new Army Commander recently. Major General Liyanage was earlier the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) at the SLAVF Headquarters in Kosgama.

Coimbatore on alert for terrorists who came from Sri Lanka

High alert was issued in Coimbatore late on Thursday following an intelligence input that six LeT terrorists had intruded into Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka and had settled in Coimbatore. The alert, the authenticity of which was confirmed by credible intelligence sources, said that the six member group intruded into Tamil Nadu via Sri Lanka, The Hindu reported.
