Gunawardena released on High Court appeal

Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, who was today sentenced to three years in jail, was released based on an appeal at the Colombo High Court.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate, who sentenced Gunawardena to jail for misusing public funds, later ordered his release based on the appeal.

Gunawardena was a former chairman of the Development Lotteries Board.
