Minister seeks report on suspicious Chinese power deal

Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has sought a report on a suspicious electricity deal involving China.

The Minister has instructed his secretary to submit a report on a tender offered to a Chinese consortium to construct the 300MW Kerawalapitiya LNG power plant.

The tender had been offered to GCL China WindForce and RenewGen despite a lower bid being offered by another company.

  1. What’s wrong Minister ? Didn’t the Chinese pay you a commission ? Don’t worry ! There will be plenty of opportunities for you to fill your pockets in the future.
