Decision taken to temporarily close Peradeniya University

A decision has been taken to temporarily close the Peradeniya University in Kandy. The Vice Chancellor of the University, M. D Lamawansa said that due to the current situation, the Peradeniya University will be closed from today. All students have been informed to leave the premises. The Vice Chancellor said that students will be informed when a decision is taken to reopen the university. (Colombo Gazette)

Police ordered to use minimum force at filling stations

The Police have been ordered to use minimum force at filling stations to control unruly crowds. The Ministry of Public Security has issued a directive in this effect to the Police following a meeting held with the authorities. The United States (US) has called for an investigation into any excessive use of force at fuel stations in Sri Lanka.
