Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, together with Air Commodore Kithsiri Leelaratne, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, and Defence Attache of the Sri Lankan Embassy Group Captain Uditha Piyasena had a series of working meetings with senior representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence and Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation to facilitate further military interaction and cooperation between the countries.
Earlier today Sri Lankan Air Force delegation and Ambassador Jayatilleka paid a call on the Head of the Central Research Institute of the Air Force of the Russian Federation, Colonel Alexander V. Zatsepilin to discuss the possibility of various training programmes for Sri Lankan Air Force personnel to be conducted in Russia and opportunities for further interaction in the framework of experience exchange. The Meeting took place at the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
Gavrilov, Deputy Head overseeing Sri Lanka, 1st Directorate, FSMTC, Lieutenant Colonel Kononenko, and Major Androschyuk were also present at the discussion.
The visit to the Ministry of Defence of Russia was preceded by the working meeting with the top representatives of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) including Sergey Bugakov, Head of 1st Directorate for Military Technical Cooperation with Foreign States, Sergey Gavrilov, Deputy Head overseeing Sri Lanka, and Mrs. Anna Zvereva, Head of Asia-Pacific Region Division, 1st Directorate, FSMTC.
Different aspects of technical supplies and further technical cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
