Anura releases election manifesto

National People’s Power Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake launched his election manifesto today.

Dissanayake, leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), released his election manifesto at an event today.

Speaking at the event, Dissanayake said that his first priority if elected as President would be to introduce amendments to the law which will make it mandatory for the President to implement his election manifesto.

He said that most Presidents don’t stick to their election promises and that needs to change.

Dissanayake also said that no one can be above the law and all will be treated equally.

He said that the cabinet will be limited to 30 and benefits to former Presidents will be slashed.

“We need a new political culture and we will take a step towards that,” he said.

He said that a future Government under his leadership will ensure national unity and reject extremism.

Dissanayake’s manifesto mainly focuses on educational reforms, health, housing facilities, sports, arts and culture, establishing a secure nation for all including women, children, youth, elders, people with special needs and the LGBT community, creating a stable economy, improving agriculture and livestock development, fisheries and aquatic resources development, public administration, effective police service, combating drug menace, national security, foreign policy, media freedom and many other sectors.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa launched his election manifesto yesterday (25).
