05 Oct, 2019

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today accused the United National Party of being involved in the case filed against SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa over his citizenship.

SLPP member and Rajapaksa’s spokesman Dullas Alahapperuma told reporters today that while the UNP has claimed it had no links to the case, public statements have been made to the contrary.

He said that United National Front member Dr. Rajith Senaratne had already admitted that the UNP was behind the case.

Alahapperuma urged the UNP to stop its mud slinging campaign against Rajapaksa.

The Court of Appeal? yesterday dismissed a petition filed over the citizenship of former Defence Secretary and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The case, which was heard over three days ended yesterday with a three-judge bench delivering a unilateral decision dismissing the case.
